Kali Phos – Nervous exhaustion/over-excitement
Nervous exhaustion and over-excitement can affect anyone at this time of year. Whether it’s too many Christmas parties, family outings or just the excitement of a visit from Santa it’s easy for nerves to get stretched to breaking point.
Kali Phos is a classic remedy for nervous exhaustion. It’s helpful for strung out children and especially valuable for parents and teachers who want to stay well over the holiday rather than collapsing into bed on day one.
How to use:
Adults (e.g., teachers): Kali Phos 30c once a day for 3 days during the penultimate week of term. Then again for 3 days during the final week.
Children: Kali Phos 6c once a day for the last 10 days of term. Or Kali Phos 30c once daily for 3–4 days as a gentle nervous-system reset.
Coffea/Arsenicum – Sleeplessness
As Christmas approaches, many people find themselves struggling to sleep—caught between the excitement of the season and the stress of everything that needs to be done.
Coffea and Arsenicum are both great remedies to alleviate sleeplessness.
How to use:

Sepia – Exhaustion/irritability:
At this time of year you may start feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or ‘burned out’. You may also feel irritable, grumpy or find yourself just wanting to be left alone on the sofa with a good book despite the good intentions and offers of help from family.
If you have above symptoms you may well be in what we call a Sepia state. When someone goes into a Sepia state they feel put-upon, that they are doing everything and no-one else is lifting a finger. They don’t want affection; they just feel tired, grumpy and short-fused.
Sepia is our go to remedy for a Sepia state. Hopefully it turns you around a bit and makes you feel more generous-hearted.
How to use:
Sepia 30c, once a day for 3 days
A person in a Sepia state may also respond to some time alone or some exercise (gym, running etc).
Nux Vomica/Pulsatilla – Over-eating and over doing it
Christmas often means over-eating, over-drinking, too much sitting around and too many rich treats. For some of us, that combination spells digestive trouble, irritability and general misery.
Nux Vomica is our main remedy for hangovers and ‘food comas’. The effects of over-eating mixed or heavy food will all respond to a dose or two of Nux Vomica.
How to use:
Take Nux Vomica 6c or 30c, one dose as needed. A second dose later in the day can help if the symptoms persist.
Pulsatilla is another gentle and effective remedy for digestive upsets from rich, fatty, or sweet foods.

General mood and well-being
Over excited children or rude in-laws can really affect your mood over Christmas. Use the following remedies to help keep your headspace clear and free of angst.
The Bach Flower Remedy Walnut can be discretely sipped if added to a water bottle. It’s great for keeping folks out of your psychic space and provides a buffer of sorts against criticism and general ‘bad vibes’ from the family.
